Mac OS X OpenVPN

Preparation:

  1. Go to www.viscosityvpn.com and hit the Download button in order to install Viscosity to your computer. You’ll be suggested to download free 30 day trial version or purchase the permanent version for 9 $. Whichever option you choose, you’ll need to select Viscosity for Mac option and save DNG file to your computer
  2. Open downloaded DMG file on your computer and drag the Viscosity icon into the Applications folder to install the program
  3. Then go to our website - wirelayer.net. Log in and select the Instructions section. Click on the link, which offers you to download the configuration files for the OpenVPN (the link is located above the OS setup instructions). Save the file to your computer
  4. After the configuration zip file is saved on your computer, create a new folder on your desktop and extract these files from the archive zip file to a newly created folder

Setup:

  1. Run the Viscosity program on your computer
  2. Click the globe icon at the upper left hand corner of the window, then select Preferences from the drop-down menu
  3. On the new screen click “+” item (at the bottom left hand corner), then select the Import Connection from the drop-down menu. Upload .ovpn file from your folder with the extracted files
  4. Now the preferences window will show your connection configuration. Click on the connection name once, then press Edit button (at the bottom right hand corner). Type in new connection name of your choice, for example, WireLayer. Press the Save button
  5. In the preference menu select Certificates option. You’ll be suggested to select and upload files
  6. Click the Select option next to the CA field and upload Wirelayer-CA.crt file from your folder with the extracted configuration files
  7. Click the Select option next to the Cert field and upload Wirelayer.crt file from the same folder
  8. For the Key field upload Wirelayer.key file
  9. Leave all other setting out
  10. Press the Save button
  11. In the Preference menu select the Options tab
  12. In the Ping box set a numerical value of "3" as shown in the figure. In the Ping Restart box set the numerical value of "15". If values are set as shown – just leave them out
  13. Put a checkmark in the boxes next to the following options: Persist Tun, Persist Key, Use Username / Password Authentication, Use LZO Compression, No Bind and Pull Options. Press Save.
  14. Leave all other settings out

Connection:

  1. Click the Viscosity globe icon. The program will show you an option to connect to the Wirelayer OpenVPN Server. Define the server that you’re assigned to. This information was sent to you in the welcome email after the registration has been done
  2. After the server is selected, enter your Username and Password. Both were sent to you in the same welcome email
  3. Optionally you can tick the Remember details in my Keychain option
  4. Press Ok button
  5. Wave the Internet safely

Mac OS X Standard VPN

  1. Go to Dock, then select System Preferences option
  2. On the new screen select Network
  3. Press “+” icon at the bottom left hand corner of the panel. In a new window click on the Interface menu and select VPN option from the drop-down menu
  4. Click on the VPN Type field (right below the Interface field) and select PPTP option from the drop-down menu
  5. In the last field of the same menu (Service Name field) enter the name of your connection. You can set any name of your choice, for example, Wirelayer
  6. Click Create button (at bottom right hand corner of the window) to save changes
  7. The previous window with fields will close. Now press the arrow next to the Configuration field to select Add Configuration option from the list of choices
  8. The new window will appear. Set any configuration name in the Name field and press Create
  9. The new window with blank fields will appear. You have to fill in the fields in the following way:
    • In the Configuration field enter the configuration name (the one you’ve created before)
    • In the Server Address field type in the server address (IP address) that was sent to you in the welcome email after the registration has been done
    • In the Account Name field type in the account name you’ve received in the same welcome email
    • Encryption filed should be set to Automatic by default. Just leave it out
    • Press the Authentication Settings button. The new window will appear. Tick the box next to the Password option (or leave it out if it’s already ticked). In the same Password field enter the password sent to you in the welcome email. Press OK
    • Now press Advanced button at the bottom right hand corner. Tick the following options: Disconnect when switching user accounts, Disconnect when user logs out and Send all traffic over VPN connection
    • Set Disconnect if idle for option to 10 minutes (or more if needed)
    • Press OK to save all your settings
  10. Click Apply button at the bottom right hand corner of the Network menu
  11. Click connect button and wave the Internet securely

WireLayer.net (called “the Website” hereafter), the companies that own it (Digital Unity Ltd. of Canada and DU Digital Unity Ltd. of Cyprus) is a service whose purpose is to protect the internet connections, the data flows (especially in open Wi-Fi networks), and the right to privacy of its Subscribers. Another purpose is to make certain web services accessible to Subscribers located in those jurisdictions where such services are banned from public access by the respective jurisdictions. We, the creators of this service, have therefore designed it to fulfill this very purpose as much as possible, using the best technology available today.

COLLECTED INFORMATION

The Website supports various payment methods, such as credit cards, PayPal, WebMoney, c-gold, and Bitcoin. Depending on the payment method the Subscriber uses, certain information may or may not be required to be collected for the purpose of payment processing and validation.


Information collected by the Website

The information that we do require from all of our Subscribers is their email address. For those Subscribers who wish to pay by credit card or PayPal, it will also be necessary to provide their first and last names, country, state/province, city, address, and postal code. This information is only used for payment processing purposes, and is not shared with any third parties.

Information recoded by the Website

The Website records all IP addresses and general client data of its visitors, like any, or almost any, other Internet website does, for the general purpose of website security and validation of requests.

Information recoded by third parties

Some information is recorded by third parties, such as Google Analytics, for the purpose of analysis and categorization of the incoming traffic for advertising and awareness needs. The information collected by such services only includes basic client data, such as the operating system and the web browser used by the visitor.

INFORMATION NOT RECORDED BY THE WEBSITE

Some information is not recorded for the very purpose of security and data protection of the Subscriber. This information is Internet activity logs – that is, any information about the websites or traffic between the websites visited while connected to any one of our VPN servers are not recorded.

Important notice: While the purpose of our service is protection of privacy and security of our customers, we are strictly against any unlawful activity, which may be committed using the Internet. Therefore, if a prospective customer has any intent of using our services for concealing commitment of illegal activities, we strongly discourage such a person from registering an account with us. If it comes to our attention that something illegal is being done by one of our customers, an investigation may possibly reveal what person is committing that kind of activity.
